Children have the right to live in a caring family environment and Governments have a responsibility to develop policies and practices that support and strengthen families and communities to appropriately care for their children. Yet up to half a million children in Indonesia are separated from families and placed in child care institutions for a lengthy period of time and the numbers continues to increase from year to year.
