Taking up the Cairo challenge: Country studies in Asia-Pacific
Taking Up the Cairo Challenge: Country Studies in Asia-Pacific examines how countries in the Asia-Pacific region have responded to the principles and commitments of the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) held in Cairo. Through a series of country-based studies, the book analyzes policies, programs, and institutional frameworks related to population dynamics, reproductive health, gender equality, and human rights. It highlights progress, challenges, and diverse national approaches shaped by social, cultural, economic, and political contexts. This work contributes to a deeper understanding of the implementation of the Cairo agenda in the Asia-Pacific region and offers valuable insights for policymakers, researchers, and advocates concerned with population and development issues.
