Indonesian Journal of Islam and Muslim Societies Volume 1, Number 2 (December 2011) continues its critical engagement with the complexities of Islam and Muslim societies in contemporary contexts. This issue presents interdisciplinary analyses of religious thought, social change, politics, and cultural practices among Muslim communities, with particular attention to issues such as authority, identity, gender relations, and democratization. Drawing on perspectives from Islamic studies, sociology, anthropology, and political science, the articles highlight the diversity of interpretations and lived experiences of Islam. This issue reinforces the journal’s role as a scholarly platform for nuanced, contextual, and critical discussions on Islam and Muslim societies in Indonesia and beyond.
