African Journal on conflict resolution: Special Issue on Gender and transitional justice in africarnSpecial Issue on gender and transitional justice in African
The African Journal on Conflict Resolution Special Issue on Gender and Transitional Justice in Africa examines how gender perspectives shape and challenge transitional justice processes across post-conflict African societies. This issue explores women’s experiences of conflict-related violence, particularly sexual and gender-based violence, as well as their roles as agents of justice, peacebuilding, and reconciliation. Through interdisciplinary analyses, case studies, and feminist legal perspectives, the issue critically assesses truth commissions, reparations, prosecutions, and institutional reforms in addressing gendered harms. It highlights both the achievements and limitations of transitional justice mechanisms in responding to women’s rights and emphasizes the necessity of inclusive, gender-responsive approaches to achieve sustainable peace and social justice.
