Indonesian Feminist Journal: Invisible & Unprotected: Women's Livelihood in Post-Reformation Era
Invisible & Unprotected: Women’s Livelihood in the Post-Reformation Era examines the precarious conditions of women’s livelihoods in Indonesia following the political and economic reforms of the post-Reformation period. The journal issue highlights how structural inequalities, labor market flexibilization, weak social protection, and persistent gender norms render women’s work—particularly in informal, care, and low-paid sectors—invisible and inadequately protected. Through feminist analysis, policy critique, and empirical case studies, the publication reveals the intersections of gender, class, and state responsibility in shaping women’s economic vulnerability. This issue underscores the urgent need for gender-responsive labor policies, social security systems, and recognition of women’s economic contributions to achieve inclusive and equitable development.
