Turning dangers into opportunities: Young People and HIV/AIDS in South Asia
Turning Dangers into Opportunities: Young People and HIV/AIDS in South Asia explores the heightened vulnerability of adolescents and young adults to HIV in a region shaped by social conservatism, gender inequality, and limited access to accurate sexual and reproductive health information. The report highlights how stigma, the lack of youth-friendly services, and restrictive policies increase young people’s risk of HIV transmission and hinder effective prevention. At the same time, it underscores the enormous potential of young people as agents of change through education, community empowerment, awareness campaigns, and supportive, rights-based policies. By promoting responsive programs and enabling environments, the publication illustrates how the challenges of HIV/AIDS in South Asia can be transformed into opportunities to build a healthier, more empowered, and better-protected generation.
