Advocating accountability: Status report on maternal health and young people's sexual and reproductive health and rights in South Asia
Advocating Accountability: Status Report on Maternal Health and Young People’s Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in South Asia provides a comprehensive assessment of the challenges and progress related to maternal health and the sexual and reproductive health and rights of young people across South Asian countries. Drawing from policy reviews, field findings, and stakeholder analyses, the report highlights persistent gaps in healthcare access, gender inequality, harmful social norms, and weak accountability mechanisms that hinder the fulfillment of these rights. At the same time, it identifies promising initiatives, youth-led advocacy, and policy reforms that offer pathways for improvement. Emphasizing the urgency of strengthening governance, investing in quality services, and enabling meaningful youth participation, the report calls for a more transparent and rights-based approach to ensure that maternal health and young people’s SRHR become central priorities in the region’s development agenda.
