The coalition for sexual and bodily rights in muslim societies (CSBR)
The Coalition for Sexual and Bodily Rights in Muslim Societies (CSBR) documents the mission, activities, and advocacy strategies of a transnational network dedicated to advancing sexual and bodily rights across diverse Muslim-majority contexts. The publication highlights the coalition’s efforts to challenge restrictive legal frameworks, social norms, and institutional practices that limit gender equality, bodily autonomy, and freedom of expression. It explores collaborative initiatives such as capacity-building, regional dialogues, policy engagement, and movement-building among activists, scholars, and civil society organizations. By situating sexual rights within broader human rights discourses, this work illustrates how CSBR navigates cultural sensitivities, political constraints, and religious interpretations while promoting inclusive, rights-based approaches. The book serves as a key resource for understanding regional feminist activism and the evolving landscape of sexual and bodily rights in Muslim societies.
