Sexual harassment in Malaysia: Findings of a public survey
Sexual Harassment and the Code of Practice in Malaysia examines the early implementation of Malaysia’s Code of Practice on the Prevention and Eradication of Sexual Harassment through a focused study of pioneer companies adopting the policy. Utilizing qualitative interviews, document analysis, and organizational case studies, the book explores how these companies translated the Code into workplace procedures, reporting mechanisms, and preventive strategies. The study highlights both progress and persistent gaps, including variations in managerial commitment, employee awareness, and the effectiveness of internal complaint systems. It also analyzes cultural, legal, and organizational factors that influence compliance and shape perceptions of sexual harassment within Malaysian workplaces. Overall, the book provides critical insights into the challenges and opportunities in establishing safer, gender-responsive work environments through policy implementation.
