ASEAN Regional plan of action on the elimination of violence against women (ASEAN RPA on EVAW)
ASEAN Regional Plan of Action on the Elimination of Violence Against Women (ASEAN RPA on EVAW) outlines a comprehensive framework to guide ASEAN member states in preventing, addressing, and ultimately eliminating all forms of violence against women in the region. The plan details strategic actions spanning legal reform, access to justice, capacity-building, data collection, multi-sectoral coordination, and the provision of quality services for survivors. Emphasizing a rights-based and gender-responsive approach, the RPA calls for stronger institutional mechanisms, community engagement, and regional cooperation to tackle root causes such as gender inequality, discrimination, and harmful social norms. It serves as a roadmap for ASEAN countries to harmonize efforts and ensure the protection, empowerment, and well-being of women across Southeast Asia.
