Transnational Family Networks of Multicultural Families and Policy Implications
The book Transnational Family Networks of Multicultural Families and Policy Implications investigates how multicultural families in Korea maintain and navigate transnational relationships across borders, and how these networks shape their social, economic, and emotional well-being. It examines patterns of communication, remittances, caregiving, and identity formation within families connected across different countries. Using qualitative and quantitative research, the study highlights the dual challenges these families face—such as cultural integration in Korea and sustaining ties with relatives abroad—while also recognizing the strengths of transnational networks in providing mutual support and resilience. The book concludes with policy recommendations aimed at enhancing social inclusion, welfare access, and multicultural understanding, emphasizing the need for coordinated policies that reflect the realities of increasingly transnational family lives.
