Affecting Women and Children in ASEAN: A Baseline Study
This baseline study examines the situation of women and children in ASEAN member states, focusing on the social, economic, and legal factors that shape their rights and well-being. It provides an overview of regional commitments and national policies, while highlighting persistent challenges such as gender-based violence, child labor, limited access to healthcare and education, and socio-economic inequality. By combining statistical data, policy analysis, and case studies, the study identifies both progress and gaps in fulfilling regional and international human rights obligations. The findings aim to serve as a foundation for future initiatives, offering guidance for policymakers, civil society, and international partners to strengthen protections and promote equality for women and children in Southeast Asia.
