Women and health: Beijing platform for action a review of who's activities
This publication reviews the World Health Organization’s (WHO) activities in advancing women’s health within the framework of the Beijing Platform for Action. It examines progress made in addressing key priority areas, including reproductive health, maternal mortality reduction, prevention of HIV/AIDS and other diseases, and the elimination of gender-based health disparities. The review highlights initiatives undertaken at global, regional, and national levels, while also identifying challenges such as unequal access to healthcare, cultural barriers, and insufficient resources. By documenting achievements and gaps, the publication provides valuable insights for policymakers, health practitioners, and advocates seeking to strengthen gender-sensitive health policies and to accelerate the realization of women’s right to health.
