The demobilization and reintegration of child soldiers: lessons learned from Angola and El Salvador
This study analyzes the processes of demobilization and reintegration of child soldiers in post-conflict settings, focusing on case studies from Angola and El Salvador. It examines the challenges faced by children associated with armed forces and groups, including trauma, loss of education, stigmatization, and difficulties in returning to civilian life. The report highlights strategies implemented by governments, international organizations, and civil society to support psychosocial recovery, education, vocational training, and community acceptance. By comparing experiences in both countries, the study identifies lessons learned and best practices for future programs aimed at ensuring the sustainable reintegration of former child soldiers and preventing their re-recruitment.
