Gender mainstreaming in indonesia : a case study of women and development-Universita Cattolica Del Sacro Cuore Milano
This case study explores the implementation of gender mainstreaming in Indonesia with a focus on women and development. It examines how government policies, institutional frameworks, and development programs have integrated gender perspectives in order to address persistent inequalities between women and men. The study highlights both progress and challenges in promoting gender equality, including socio-cultural barriers, limited institutional capacity, and gaps between policy formulation and practical outcomes. By analyzing Indonesia’s development strategies through a gender lens, the research provides insights into the effectiveness of mainstreaming efforts and their impact on women’s empowerment, participation, and access to resources. The findings underline the importance of stronger institutional commitment, cross-sector collaboration, and cultural transformation to achieve sustainable and inclusive gender-sensitive development.
