Freedom, Security and Justice for All: Justice and Home affairs in the European Union
This work examines the development of the European Union’s Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) policies, focusing on the creation of an area of freedom, security, and justice. It explores how the EU balances free movement of people with measures against crime, terrorism, and irregular migration. The study also discusses cooperation among EU institutions and member states in areas such as asylum, immigration, police collaboration, and judicial cooperation. Emphasizing the tension between national sovereignty and collective EU action, the book highlights the challenges of protecting fundamental rights while enhancing internal security.
