Southeast asian women in politics and decision-making, ten years after Beijing gaining ground?: a compilation of five country reports
This volume compiles five country reports examining the status of women’s political participation and decision-making in Southeast Asia a decade after the 1995 Beijing Platform for Action. It analyzes progress made in increasing women’s representation in parliaments, local governance, and leadership positions, while also identifying persistent structural, cultural, and institutional barriers.
The book highlights both achievements and setbacks, showcasing examples of policy reforms, advocacy campaigns, and grassroots mobilization that have enabled women to gain political ground. By offering a comparative perspective, it provides valuable insights into regional trends, lessons learned, and the continuing challenges for achieving gender equality in political and decision-making arenas.
