Seethings and seatings: strategies for women's political participation in Asia Pacific
This book examines the challenges and opportunities for women’s political participation in the Asia-Pacific region, highlighting both structural barriers and innovative strategies developed by women to gain representation. It explores how cultural norms, patriarchal institutions, and electoral systems often limit women’s access to decision-making positions.
At the same time, the volume documents grassroots activism, policy advocacy, and coalition-building efforts that have enabled women to claim political space and influence governance. By bringing together diverse regional experiences, it underscores the importance of sustained advocacy, gender-sensitive reforms, and solidarity in advancing women’s political empowerment across Asia and the Pacific.
