Free Prior Informed Consent Protocols As Instruments Of Autonomy: Laying Foundations For Rights based Engagement
We are grateful to the GIZ sector programme “Realising human rights in development cooperation” for funding this project and making this report possible. We are also indebted to Johannes
Rohr, Marlene Ecker and Marjorie Andrea González Ramírez of Infoe for their input to the development of the database and their contribution to the analysis of the FPIC protocols.
The report would not have been possible without the expertise of the chapter authors, Cathal Doyle,
Biviane Rojas Garzon, Tami Okamoto and Viviane Weitzner and the deep insights shared by the
representatives of those peoples whose protocols are addressed in three case studies, in particular, Hector Jaime Vinasco of the Embera Chamí Resguardo Indígena Cañamomo Lomaprieta,
Shapiom Noningo and Grimaldo Sanchez Najamtai of the Wampis Nation, and Bel Juruna of the
Juruna people.
