In 2014, the indonesian government issued a national regulation on school dress that has been widely interpreted to require female muslim students to wear a jilbab as part of their school uniform. prior to and since this regulation, many provincial and local governments in indonesia have adopted several hundred sharia inspired regulations, many of which are targeted at women and girls, including their dress.
