Context analysis of the security sector reform in serbia 1989-2009

The first part of this publication presents a study of a broader social and political context in Serbia, in which the security sector transformed.

The analysis encompasses the period since the demise of communism in 1989 until 2010, as well as an examination of main political and security actors that influenced the process of SSR.

The second part of the publication presents the chronological overview of main events that marked and shaped the context in which the process of SSR took place in Serbia, in the period 1990-2009.

The events listed in the Chronology are chosen on the basis of the impact they had on the political system and the security sector, as well as on social and economic development.
