Globalization tendencies, with all their disjunctures and unevenness of development, have highly varied and often even opposite consequences for women. They take hold of and change social systems, cultures and economies in different ways, powerfully eroding and revolutioning societies in the East and South, while often provoking modernization and adaptation effects in the industrial heartlands of the North.
