Single Mother Survivors of Domestic Violence: A Needs Assessment Survey
This report presents findings from a needs assessment survey focused on single mothers who have survived domestic violence, aiming to identify the specific challenges they face and the support systems required for recovery and independence. Using quantitative and qualitative data gathered from survivors, the survey examines key areas of need including safe housing, economic livelihood, legal assistance, psychological counseling, child care, and access to social protection services. The findings highlight how leaving abusive relationships often exposes single mothers to compounded vulnerabilities such as poverty, stigma, trauma, and limited institutional support, while also documenting their resilience and strategies for rebuilding their lives. The report underscores gaps in current service provision and policy implementation, emphasizing the need for integrated, survivor-centered, and gender-responsive programs. Intended for policymakers, social service providers, NGOs, women’s rights advocates, and researchers in gender and social welfare, this needs assessment serves as an evidence base for designing targeted interventions and budget allocations that address the practical and strategic needs of single-mother survivors of domestic violence.
