Workshop on National Legislation on Domestic Violence in the Mekong Sub-Region Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand and Vietnam, 4-6 December 2001
This document is a report of a regional workshop on national legislation related to domestic violence (DV) in the Sub-Mekong region involving Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam. The workshop discussed the development of legal frameworks, policies, and implementation of anti-DV laws in each country, highlighting good practices, legal gaps, and challenges in law enforcement and victim protection. Through the exchange of experiences between countries, the report identifies cross-border issues such as the definition of DV, reporting mechanisms, integrated services for victims, the role of law enforcement officials, and civil society engagement. This document is intended as advocacy material and shared learning to strengthen national legislation, harmonize protection standards, and regional cooperation in responding to DV comprehensively and from a victim perspective in the Mekong region.
