School-Related Gender-Based Violence in the Asia-Pacific Region
School-Related Gender-Based Violence in the Asia-Pacific Region examines the prevalence, forms, and impacts of gender-based violence (GBV) within educational settings across Asia and the Pacific. The study highlights how violence—including sexual harassment, bullying, corporal punishment, and discriminatory practices—affects girls’ and boys’ access to quality education, psychological well-being, and social development. It identifies structural and cultural factors that perpetuate GBV, such as gender norms, power imbalances, and inadequate policies or reporting mechanisms. The report also reviews effective interventions, including gender-sensitive curricula, teacher training, safe school environments, and community engagement. Overall, it underscores that addressing school-related GBV is critical for ensuring inclusive, safe, and equitable education for all students in the region.
