Stop Violence Now: Government and NGO Collaboration to Eliminate Violence Against Women in Indonesia 1999–2001
Stop Violence Now: Government and NGO Collaboration to Eliminate Violence Against Women in Indonesia 1999–2001 analyzes joint efforts between the Indonesian government and non-governmental organizations in addressing violence against women during the post-reformasi period. The study highlights the emergence of collaborative initiatives aimed at strengthening legal frameworks, improving victim services, and raising public awareness about gender-based violence. It also examines the roles of NGOs in advocacy, data collection, and direct assistance to survivors, alongside government efforts to institutionalize policies and protection mechanisms. Despite notable progress, the report identifies ongoing challenges such as limited resources, weak law enforcement, and persistent cultural norms that hinder effective implementation. Overall, the work emphasizes the importance of sustained multi-sector cooperation to achieve meaningful reductions in violence against women.
