Protecting Girls from undergoing Female Genital Mutilation: The Experience of Working with the Maasai Communities in Kenya and Tanzania
This book examines efforts to protect girls from Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in the Maasai community in Kenya and Tanzania. The report presents experiences working with the Maasai community to eliminate the harmful practice of FGM/C and violating girls' human rights. Strategies used included education, advocacy, and empowerment of local communities to change social norms and raise awareness about the negative impacts of FGM/C. Results showed a significant reduction in FGM/C and increased community support for girls' protection.
