As If I Am Not Human: Abuses Against Asian Domestic Workers In Saudi Arabia
This report documents the widespread abuses experienced by Asian domestic workers employed in Saudi Arabia, highlighting patterns of exploitation and violations of basic human rights. Drawing on testimonies from migrant domestic workers, the report describes conditions such as excessive working hours, non-payment of wages, physical and psychological abuse, restrictions on freedom of movement, and the confiscation of passports by employers. It also examines how the sponsorship (kafala) system and gaps in labor protections contribute to workers’ vulnerability and limit their ability to seek legal remedies or protection. The publication calls for stronger legal safeguards, enforcement of labor rights, and reforms to migration and employment systems to better protect migrant domestic workers and ensure accountability for abuses.
