Always on Call: Abuse and Exploitation of child Domestic Workers in Indonesia
This book documents the abuse and exploitation experienced by child domestic workers in Indonesia, highlighting how children employed in household work often face long working hours, physical and psychological abuse, withheld wages, and restricted access to education. Based on field research and testimonies, the study reveals how the hidden nature of domestic work in private homes contributes to weak monitoring and limited legal protection for child workers. The book also examines gaps in labor regulations and child protection policies while advocating stronger legal frameworks, enforcement mechanisms, and social interventions to eliminate child domestic labor and safeguard children’s rights.
