Child Labor in Three Metropolitan Cities: Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan
This book examines the phenomenon of child labor in three major metropolitan cities in Indonesia—Jakarta, Surabaya, and Medan. Based on field research and socio-economic analysis, the study explores the factors that drive children into the workforce, including poverty, limited access to education, family economic pressures, and the dynamics of urban informal economies. The book also highlights the types of work performed by children, the risks and vulnerabilities they face, and the broader social implications. It ultimately emphasizes the importance of child protection policies, improved access to education, and coordinated government and community efforts to reduce child labor in urban environments.
