HIV/AIDS and Human Rights International Guidelines
HIV/AIDS and Human Rights: International Guidelines is an international framework that affirms responses to the HIV/AIDS epidemic must be grounded in human rights principles. The book outlines states’ obligations to respect, protect, and fulfill the rights of people living with HIV/AIDS and vulnerable groups, including protection from discrimination, confidentiality and privacy guarantees, and access to healthcare, education, employment, and accurate information. It also emphasizes the need for legal and policy reforms, meaningful participation of civil society, and gender-sensitive, non-stigmatizing approaches to create an enabling environment for effective prevention, treatment, care, and support. As such, the guidelines serve as a key reference for governments, policymakers, and advocates in integrating international human rights standards into comprehensive and equitable HIV/AIDS responses.
