This book examines the ongoing impact of the 2004 tsunami in Aceh, particularly on the fulfillment and violations of women's human rights. Although the tsunami is considered a natural disaster, the author shows that the post-disaster situation actually exacerbated women's vulnerabilities due to pre-existing gender inequalities. During the emergency and rehabilitation-reconstruction processes, women faced various forms of rights violations.
